FIRST® LEGO® League Jr.* is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6 to 10 while exciting them through a brand they know and love − LEGO®.
Guided by adult coaches and FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. Core Values, students build models using LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 and create Show Me posters to present what they learned. The program focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge – to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination.
What does every FIRST LEGO League Jr. team need? Can I run a large number of teams all at once at my school or organization? When does FIRST LEGO League Jr. happen? What is the time commitment? Any special skills required?
During the 2017-2018 Aqua Adventure season, fifteen Mississippi teams were formed. There were three groups of teams. One in northern Mississippi, one in central Mississippi and one on the Gulf Coast. This is an exciting program for the students and equally exciting for the adult coaches.
If you would like to start a FIRST LEGO League Jr. team in your area, we welcome you and promise to provide you with all the support, ideas, and encouragement you need to succeed! Remember: NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND YOU ARE NEVER ALONE!
Reviewers interview the teams at Expos to learn how the team approached the challenge, built its model and practiced the Core Values of FIRST.
